The project “Breathe new life”

The project "Breathe new life" directed to the support of children's infectious hospital intensive care departments in Kazakhstan. This project was started in 2007 when the Fund "AYALA" helped to equip with medical equipment the children's infectious hospital intensive care department in Almaty City (CCCIH). Ventilator, semi-automatic laboratory, apparatus for phototherapy, incubator for newborn children and other medical equipment were placed in this department. This project has proved its effectiveness by tens of rescued children's lives. With the help of equipment that fund "AYALA" conveyed to CCCIH, child mortality has decreased by 4 times. In 2011 it was decided to extend the boundaries of the initiated project outside the southern capital.

Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital of Mangistau region, the Aktau city

Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital of Mangistau region is designed for 120 beds, half of which is intended for the children treatment. In the hospital an intensive care unit for 6 beds is deployed. For a full treatment of children, especially younger children, with infectious diseases, it is needed modern medical equipment, which is in the ICU are too little, and from the three ventilators only one is in working order. In the intensive care unit there are no dosing syringes, and without this device the medical staff of ICU in large cities just can not imagine their work. In addition, in the department there is no x-ray machine, which is so necessary for the accurate diagnosis of various diseases. Intensive care unit patients, even in a serious condition have to be transported to a hospital X-ray room. To change the catastrophic situation in the ICU requires the following equipment:

Burlinsky central regional hospital, the Aksai city

Burlinsky central regional hospital is located in the Aksai city. As part of CRH maternity department is operating, in which about 600 children are born each year, many of them are premature. Since 2008, Kazakhstan adopted a new criterion for live birth, in which infants weighing more than 500 grams are living children, not the fetus, as it was before. For nursing infants with extremely low body weight (500-1000 g) requires special equipment, which is in the ICU is not enough. In order to provide medical care to newborns with various diseases and prematurity in particular, need to purchase the following equipment:

Almaty Regional Children's Hospital (Iliysky district, urban-type settlement Otegen-Batyr)

Almaty Regional Children's Hospital began its work in November 2011. This hospital was built under the program "100 schools, 100 hospitals" and is intended to provide medical care for children's population of Almaty southern regions. According to statistics for 2011, 314,698 children, including 26,451 children under the age of 1 year may require this help.

For five months in 2012 specialized assistance was provided more than to 500 children. Despite the fact that the Almaty Regional Children's Hospital was built recently, there is a lack of large number of highly specialized medical equipment.

The charity fund “AYALA” is not able to provide all of the children's hospital the equipment needed by medical personnel. But to meet the needs that come first in the framework of the project "Breathe new life" must be purchased in the first place, this equipment:

Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital of Kyzylorda region

Regional Infectious Diseases Hospital of Kyzylorda region was opened in 1989. Hospital has 200 beds, 150 of them are for children. Kyzylorda region is unfavorable in epidemiological terms. Besides the patients with "traditional" intestinal infections, viral respiratory infections and viral hepatitis of various etiologies, each year hospital renders medical care to patients with tick bites, brucellosis, Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever and other diseases.

In order to provide highly specialized care the intensive care unit requires the following equipment:

The City Hospital № 3 of Petropavlovsk city

Intensive care unit for children with infectious diseases is intended for six beds. Children who are in critical condition receive help in this department. Hospital mortality rate entirely depends on the work of the medical intensive care unit staff.

Kostanai Regional Children's Hospital

It is the only multidisciplinary children's hospital of Kostanai Region. It provides qualified, specialized and highly specialized medical care for child population of Kostanai, Rudnyi, Lisakovsk, Zhitikara and Arkalyk. Round clock hospital for in-patients has 260 beds, including 10 beds - Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation.

To provide highly specialized care in the resuscitation it requires the following equipment:

Children's Hospital of Kostanai City

Hospital intended for 175 people, including 75 beds - for people with infectious diseases. Resuscitation department intended for 6 beds. The hospital serves the entire child population (39 384 people), in addition, the infectious disease's section hospitalized severe patients throughout the area. From 18 children who died in hospital, 11 - patients from infectious diseases department. This is due to the fact that infectious patients arrive in poor condition. For qualified emergency help the resuscitation department needs the following:

Atyrau Regional Children's Hospital

In Atyrau regional children's hospital with 170 beds deployed the resuscitation department for 5 beds. This hospital provides care for children from birth to 15 years on the surgical and pediatric. Each year in the resuscitation department more than 250 children receive medical assistance. Total mortality in 2012 was 0.5%, mainly due to the lack of high-tech medical equipment.

Atyrau Regional Children's Hospital – is the only medical institutions, providing care for children in this area. The hospital is functioning since 1974. Currently, the resuscitation department and intensive care department are in urgent need of the equipment for providing high-performance health care for children:

City hospital № 2 of Zhambyl region

In Taraz city hospital № 2 deployed the only department of regional significance, which assists patients with thermal injuries - burns and frostbites. The department annually treats more than 300 children. Because of the severity of their condition, these children for a long time are in the resuscitation, which is not adapted for treatment of children.

Currently, to provide skilled care for children, the resuscitation and intensive care are in dire need of the following equipment:
