An opening of sensory room was held in the special correctional boarding school of Astana for children with intellectual development disorders. A sensory room is a room with a specially-organized environment, full of various stimulators which have an effect on all the five senses of a child – vision, hearing, smell, feel and taste. The project’s cost amounted to 2 810 000 tenge.

The same day a solemn ceremony of granting equipment to the ophthalmologist’s cabinet was held in the nursery kindergarten №124 of Almaty for children with vision disorders and severe speech disorders in the frameworks of the project “A cabinet of vision’s protection”. The main functions of this cabinet are: conservative treatment of ametropies, relieving of the vision tiredness syndrome and improvement of the functional vision condition, rehabilitative treatment of several chronic dystrophic diseases. The tables for conducting the vision acuity tests, ophthalmoscope, synoptophore for heterotropia and amblyopia treatment were bought at the total cost of 1 474 500 tenge for the cabinet.

It should be noted that financial means for the sensory room and equipment to the ophthalmologist’s cabinet were collected in the result of two charitable marathons held this year by the Britain Kazakh Society in Astana and Almaty. Let us recall that in the first capital marathon the prime minister of Kazakhstan Karim Masymov and Astana mayor Adilbek Dzaksybekov took part in the first capital marathon. The running races couldn’t be organized without support of the sponsors. They are the airway company “Air Astana”, Eurasian Resources Group (ERG), KIOGE. We would like to express our great gratitude to the partners of BKS marathons 2015 – the Development bank of Kazakhstan, Samruk Kazyna, the companies “Temyrzholenergo”, RG Brands with a trademark ASU, Confederation of combat and strength sports, Haileybury school, fitness club World Class, school of Nordic walking Eurasia, reastaurant complex Palladium, SWEETS confectionery, and also radio NE.FM and ELLE magazine for their informational support. 700 runners took part in the capital marathon.

In addition, we succeeded in collecting more financial resources than it was needed for the realization of two projects. The remaining balance amounted to 1 989 744 tenge. This sum of money will be directed by “AYALA” foundation on the opening of sensory room in the cabinet of psychological and pedagogical correction of Esil city in Akmolinsk region.

 “The ophthalmologist’s cabinet is very important for our institution. At present day 42 children attend it. Thanks a lot for your responsiveness and empathy, for your wish and possibility to support those who need it. The equipment presented to the ophthalmologist’s cabinet will be of great usefulness to our pupils’, - said Ainur Karakulova, a deputy of the nursery kindergarten №124 of Almaty for children with vision and speech disorders.  

“The sensory room has already been working for two months. 95 children has already visited it for this period. We can see the concrete results. Children like the atmosphere very much. They want to get there but in this room we work only with hyperactive children”, - has told today a psychology doctor of special correctional boarding school of Astana for children with intellectual development disorders, Arai Shakhatova.
